avid journalist

after I completed my foundation studies, I was wondering what is the best way to hone my sketching skills. Through a lot of research, they say it is best to document fond memories, sketch things/scene that fascinates you in a journal. If you can draw, you should have a habit of sketching in a sketchbook/journal.

Journal entries post have become viral on social network, as an arts enthusiast, I would really love to give it a try, using my own style! pens and markers are my favourite so I thought of instead of using watercolour, why not try dry media instead? The first time I posted this on my instagram, I actually feel happy as I receive a lot of positive feedback.

A lot of people tend to think I am doing food journal, but I am actually just record what fascinated me with my sketches. A cozy ambience of a cafe and scrumptious food can give inspiration to you.

Tip: If you would like to improve your arts as an amatuer, try to sketch food! because food is one of the easiest things to draw.

Tips: Try to use mix media for journal entries. Stick washi tapes and stickers, makeollage and play with watercolour and coloured pens. Just keep exploring!

Fond memories are leave imprints in your mind. During my Penang Trip, I just cannot wait to get home and start making journal entries. I used to buy a lot of washi tapes and stickets yet I have no time to use them, and now it is time to make good use of them.

urban sketching is another hobby that can helps you to improve in drawing. It may be difficult at first, but with a lot of practice and patience, you will get there. To simply drawings of trees, you can search for architectural tree drawings - using the technique of hatching. Well sometimes if you think you are running out of time, you can sketch the composition and shapes of still life on the spot and take picture of the details so you can finish them at home.
